Over the next few weeks I will be focusing on a word of the day drawn from a list created at the beginning of January. Each word was chosen to serve as a guide to inspire and inform my steps through 2020. If you are just joining me now and want to look in on earlier posts on this topic, you will find links to each at the end.

“In ordinary life, we hardly realize that we receive a great deal more than we give, and that it is only with gratitude that life becomes rich.” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer
GRATITUDE
Gratitude and generosity go hand-in-hand.
Like many of the ways in which I aspire to live, they are both a choice and a practice. When practiced together, they create a self-sustaining loop of goodness that can’t help but change us, and in the process changes the world around us.
Even in the most challenging of times there is always something for which to be grateful, and, there is always some way in which to be generous. When generosity feels impossible to muster, grab hold of the hand of gratitude. When gratitude feels beyond our reach, the hand of generosity will show us the way.
